Your buyer may see a short list before they see your website
Fewer people click the top result on Google when an AI answer sits above it. [1]
In our own test, Google's AI answered IT support buyer questions, and each answer named four firms or fewer. [2]
G2, the software review site, found that 51% of B2B software buyers now begin research in an AI chatbot rather than a search engine. [3]
Good search work is still the base, because AI answers are built from pages on the web.
[1] Ahrefs, December 2025, 300,000 keywords: on average, the top-ranking page had a 58% lower click-through rate when an AI Overview appeared.[2] Syrvi's own test, 8 September 2026: sixteen searches we ran, eight in the UK and eight in the US, using questions an MSP buyer might type.[3] G2, The Answer Economy, March 2026: 1,076 B2B software buyers. The survey covers software buyers only.
What the scorecard looks at
The AI Search Scorecard is written by Syrvi, a UK go-to-market consultancy. We help B2B companies get found by buyers on Google and in AI tools. It covers the kind of checks we run for clients, in a form you can answer yourself.

How your score works
Each check scores 0, 1 or 2 points, so the most you can score is 20. The score lines are our own rule of thumb for a self-check, not an industry standard. Your total puts you in one of three bands.
SEO, AEO and GEO, in plain English
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Being found on Google and Bing (SEO) | SEO stands for search engine optimisation. It means making your pages easy for Google and Bing to find and rank. It is still the base for everything below. |
| Giving a clear, direct answer (AEO) | AEO stands for answer engine optimisation. It means writing pages that answer a question straight away, so Google can lift the answer into a featured answer or an AI Overview. |
| Being named by AI tools (GEO) | GEO stands for generative engine optimisation. It means being named, and described correctly, when ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude write an answer. |
One job, done in three places: make your company easy to find, easy to understand and easy to recommend.
Want the full picture? The audit goes further
The scorecard is a good first look. The AI Search Visibility & Outbound Readiness Audit goes further. We check what Google and the AI tools really say about your company, and which companies they name instead. We also check whether you can reach your best-fit buyers in large numbers. You get two short written reports, yours to keep.

|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | You, from what you know | We run it across Google and the AI tools (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews), then a person on our team checks it |
| What it shows | Your score out of 20 and your three weakest checks | A visibility score and a list of your gaps, ranked by what they cost you |
| The companies named instead | You list them yourself | A comparison with the companies the AI tools name |
| Your website | Three quick checks | The technical issues on your site that stop the AI tools citing you |
| Outbound readiness | Not covered | Who your best-fit buyers are, which channels will reach them, and whether you can reach them in large numbers |
| What you get | Your score on screen and by email | Two short written reports of about five pages each, yours to keep |
| Cost | Free | £999 + VAT, invoiced once your application is approved |

Questions people ask
Is SEO dead now with AI?
No. AI answers are built from pages on the web, so good search work is still the base. But ranking first brings fewer visits on its own. Ahrefs found that, on average, the top-ranking page was clicked 58 per cent less often when an AI Overview appeared. So you need to rank, and to be named in the answer.
How do I know if ChatGPT mentions my company?
Put the five questions your buyers ask to ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity and Google's AI (AI Overviews). Use a private window and the same words each time, then count the answers that name you. Answers change from one run to the next, so one test is a snapshot, not a verdict. Run it again a few days later.
How can I get AI to recommend my business?
Make your company easy to find, easy to quote and well spoken of on other sites. AirOps studied 21,311 brand mentions in AI answers about business software. It found that 85 per cent came from other websites and 13.2 per cent from the brand's own site. Reviews and directory listings help. So do trade press and one consistent description.
How do I appear in Google's AI Overviews?
Open each main service page with a two-sentence answer to the question it targets, then add a short FAQ (a list of questions and answers). Let search robots (crawlers) in through your robots.txt file, send Google a sitemap (a list of your pages) in Search Console and keep pages quick on a phone. That is the shape an AI tool can quote.
How do I see visits from AI tools in Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free tool that counts visits to your site. Look for visits from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, copilot.microsoft.com and gemini.google.com. Some people copy your web address out of an AI answer, and Analytics then counts the visit as direct. So also watch how many people search for your company's name, and your enquiries.
What happens after the scorecard?
Once you tell us where to send your results, you see your score on screen, and we email you a link to your full report, which you can come back to or save as a PDF. Someone from our team may also get in touch to talk through your score. If you want the full picture, the AI Search Visibility & Outbound Readiness Audit is the next step.
